Osaka University
Osaka University (OU) is a comprehensive research university with 11 schools, 15 graduate schools, 23 research institutes, 4 libraries, and 2 university hospitals. Under the motto of “Live Locally, Grow Globally,” some of the most advanced research in the world is taking place here at the university. Around 23,000 students are studying at OU and there are about 2,700 international students from 107 countries and regions. With so many cultures, backgrounds, and ways of thinking all in one place, Osaka University provides an enriching environment for people from all walks of life.
OU was founded in 1931 with passionate support from the local government, the Kansai business community, and the citizens of Osaka. Following the integration of OU and Osaka University of Foreign Studies in 2007, we became the only national university in Japan with a School of Foreign Studies offering 25 language majors.
